It is with great sorrow that I have to inform you of the loss of Joanne Binks, Tyldesley Swimming and Water Polo’s Club’s Treasurer, Vice President, friend and supporter.

On Sunday 23rd April 2023, Joanne sadly passed away.

Family was very important to Joanne and TSWPC were lucky and honoured enough to become part of her family when she came to the club 8 years ago, she became part of the Committee and then in 2019 she became Treasurer and Vice President

With her experience in Business she was able to guide the club through the COVID era and ensured that we were financially viable coming out of COVID and back into the water.

Joanne was certainly an inspirational person, always putting others before herself and I am sure that those members who came with us through the Covid Journey acknowledge this with the various events, like the Treasurer Hunt, the Bake Off , the Quiz Nights, the Land Training sessions.  Joanne was also the organiser for the 146th year celebrations.  Joanne was the “glue that held us all together” ensuring we all had a great time.

Joanne held a special place in her heart for the Club and its members and I am sure that the club and its members will always have a special place in our hearts for Joanne.  Joanne was truly an inspiration to so many people and in my opinion is irreplaceable.

As she “Flys with the Angels” remember the next time you see “a Robin” whether it be flying past or just sitting in your garden, think of Joanne as I am sure she will be watching over us all.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Joanne’s family and friends at this sad time, especially to Nick, Lauren and Jenna.  I have read some of the kind words that have already been left on Social Media and I hope Nick and the girls will take some solace from this and know, what a much loved, beautiful, inspiring woman Joanne was.

I will update the club members with Funeral details as soon as I can along with details for donations.
